Both current and prospective students of the University of South Africa (UNISA) are required to register for 2025-2026 academic year. To be enrolled, applicants must submit a placement request to UNISA and must have it accepted before proceeding with enrollment.
Returning students will proceed to register for the 2025 academic year during the designated registration period, upon receiving the registration details from UNISA. You must electronically apply for the new qualification, within the specified application timeframe if you intend to switch to a different qualification.

UNISA Online Registration 2025 Dates
UNISA Registration dates may differ depending on the program/course of study, qualification of study and level of study. Below are the registration dates for all qualifications for the 2025-2026 academic year:
- Registration for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas to be open from 9 January to 3 February.
- Registration for master’s and doctoral qualifications to be open from 9 January to 31 March.

You will be prompted to review your details for any inaccuracies or omissions, making sure that all important fields are completed before submitting your registration form during the online process.
Follow the step-by-step procedures below:
- Go to http://registration.unisa.ac.za
- Register with Unisa. To register, click “Go”
- Select your qualification.
- Fill in the blanks with your student number and any other information required. (You would not be allowed to proceed if you do not have a student number.)
- To be considered for entry, you should apply online. A student number will be produced and sent to you during this process.)
- Double-check your personal information. Correct any incomplete contact information. It’s important that you have the right address and phone number. Incorrect information can cause a delay in obtaining your study materials and prevent you from receiving important information from your professor.
- Do not select more than the required number of modules per semester or year, otherwise, this may cause a delay in processing your enrollment. Unisa reserves the right to withdraw modules depending on the maximum amount of credits each semester and the fees charged. Please keep in mind the overall time limit for completing your qualification.
- Calculate your Study fees: Go to the Unisa website and click on the price quotation page (http://www.unisa.ac.za/feequote) to get a quote for the expense of the modules
- Finally, Submit your Registration

All prospective students must upload certified copies of supporting documents during their Registration process. The following documents are required to register at UNISA;
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
