Unisa Honours Degrees And Postgraduate Diplomas
Honours Degrees vs. Postgraduate Diplomas: Which Is Right for You:
The University of South Africa has officially confirmed its admission window, and the Unisa Application Closing Date 2027-2028 is now the key date every prospective distance-learning student must remember. Unisa is known as a provider of fair and equitable access to higher education opportunities. Flowing from its social responsibility to address past inequalities, the university has an application and selection process that effectively addresses historical imbalances without sacrificing quality standards. This enables better student support while aligning intake with available academic capacity and infrastructure to improve student success rates across all colleges.
If you intend to study in 2027, take note of these dates. Applications for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2027 academic year are open from 17 August to 9 October 2026. Therefore, the Unisa closing date for 2027 is 9 October 2026. All new applications require a non-refundable fee of R160. There will be no extension for undergraduate and honours degrees, so submitting before the deadline is important to secure your place and avoid disappointment.
This deadline is for everyone starting a new qualification. That includes first-time applicants, current Unisa students moving to a new qualification or specialisation, and higher certificate graduates who want to proceed to undergraduate studies. You must also re-apply if you previously received an offer but did not accept it or register for any reason. Students who plan to enrol for classes at a TVET college under the Unisa-TVET agreement must apply for admission as well. For further studies, master’s and doctoral qualifications open on 1 September 2026, and Short Learning Programmes open on 2 November 2026. Applications for the 2028 academic year are expected to open around August 2027, so use this current cycle wisely and prepare early.
