2025/2026 Unisa SLP Applications: Complete Document Checklist

Unisa Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) are introductory, practical, non-degree programmes or courses that have been introduced to help develop skills and knowledge in a chosen subject field quickly and effectively. They are intended to update or broaden students’ skills and knowledge in a specific area by covering fundamental key concepts.

The SLPs follow a “just enough” learning approach, which means that they are designed to meet a potential student’s specific learning need or a unique employment requirement.

All applicants pursuing a new qualification at Unisa, including first-time applicants and current Unisa students beginning a new qualification in SLPs, must submit the required documents by the application closing date. Documents submitted after this date will not be accepted.

Applicants are to note that Unisa does not provide scanners or electronic devices, so they should ensure their documents are scanned and uploaded to an electronic device before starting the application process.

Who Is Qualified To Apply For Unisa Short Learning Courses

Everyone wanting to start a new Short Learning Programme must apply for admission. This includes

  • first-time Unisa applicants.
  • Unisa students changing to a new Short Learning Programme.
  • applicants who previously applied for admission and were not offered a space.

Short learning programmes (SLPs) are a key offering from the College of Economic and Management Sciences. SLPs are not formal qualifications like diplomas or degrees. Instead, they are designed to meet specific workplace learning needs. Employees may need to complete SLPs to fill immediate gaps or update their knowledge. Documents Needed For Unisa Short Learning Courses Application 2025/2026

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required supporting documents, which generally consist of the following:

  • Copy of your school qualifications (eg National Senior Certificate)
  • Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
  • Any additional documents as may be required for a specific Short Learning Programme

What You Need to Know Before You Apply

  • You must apply online for all Short Learning Programmes.
  • You may apply for a maximum of two Short Learning Programmes, ranked in order of preference
  • You must accept or decline the offer within the prescribed period indicated in your offer letter.
  • If you do not accept Unisa’s offer within the prescribed period, Unisa will withdraw your offer and give your place to another applicant.
