The Bachelor of Laws is an undergraduate law degree offered by the University of South Africa (UNISA) and most common law jurisdictions, with the exception of the United Kingdom. The LLB programme at UNISA is a detailed undergraduate degree that prepares students for entry into the South African legal profession. It is intended to give a firm foundation in legal concepts, analytical abilities, and ethical reasoning, all of which are essential for success in the legal industry. The Legal Practise Council (LPC) of South Africa recognises UNISA’s LLB programme, making it a genuine and highly regarded qualification.
The LLB degree consists of 40 modules: 37 mandatory and 3 elective. In their first year of enrollment, students must study Introduction to Law (ILW1501) and Skills Course for Law Students (SCL1501).

Unisa LLB Application Date 2024-2025
Unisa Application for Admission to Undergraduate qualifications i.e, higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees is opens on 11 August to 14 October. However, Unisa can open applications for qualifications where there is available space.
Also the application piortal opens for Master’s & Doctoral qualification on 8 September to 14 November.
Please, be reminded that all Unisa applications for admission in the 2024-2025 Academic year must be submitted online. There will be no self-help stations available for applications at the regional offices.
Application for Admission to a qualification is not automatic. It will depend on whether you meet the admission requirements and if there is space available.

LLB Admission Requirement At UNISA 2024-2025
Yоur admission to Unіѕа is dереndеnt оn уоu mееtіng the specific admission requirements for уоur сhоѕеn ԛuаlіfісаtіоn.
- A Nаtіоnаl Sеnіоr Cеrtіfісаtе (NSC) (Dеgrее endorsement) with аt lеаѕt 50% in thе language оf teaching аnd lеаrnіng
or - a Sеnіоr Cеrtіfісаtе (SC) wіth matriculation еxеmрtіоn оr ԛuаlіfу fоr the exemption frоm the Mаtrісulаtіоn Bоаrd wіth аt least a D ѕуmbоl оn HG оr a C symbol оn SG іn thе lаnguаgе оf tеасhіng аnd learning.
оr - a Dірlоmа
оr - a Hіghеr Certificate.
Aррlісаntѕ whо dо nоt qualify thе above rеԛuіrеmеntѕ ѕhоuld to consider applying for thе Dірlоmа or Hіghеr Cеrtіfісаtе fоr whісh thеу mееt thе statutory аnd аddіtіоnаl requirements.

UNISA LLB Application Procedure & Registration 2024-2025
Before applying at Unisa, ensure that your meet the admission requirements of the program and that you meet the eligibility requirement of the institution. To apply online at Unisa follow the steps below:
- Log in to the official website of UNISA
- On the registration portal and click on ” Apply for Admission
- Click On “Apply Now”
- Complete the application form with the required information
- Upload certified copies of supporting documents
- Make payment of your non-refundable application fee of R125.00
- Review your application to ensure that your application is complete
- Submit your application before the closing date.
Therefore; Applicants may register only after receiving confirmation from Unisa that their admission application has been accepted. If it is discovered that you were wrongly admitted to a qualification, Unisa reserves the right to refuse to process and/or cancel your registration. The alternative qualification does not come with a guarantee of acceptance. It depends on whether you meet the admissions requirements and if there is room.
Students who are re-registering for the 2024 academic year can do so whenever the registration period opens.
