Applications for undergraduate qualifications and honours degrees at the University of South Africa for the 2027 academic year are officially open from 17 August to 9 October 2026. If you are eyeing the 2028 academic year, applications are expected to open around August 2027.
So, who must apply for Unisa Admission 2027? Everyone wanting to start a new qualification must apply, including first-time applicants and current Unisa students who want to change to a new qualification or specialisation. If you are completing a higher certificate and want to continue with further undergraduate studies, you must also apply. You will need to re-apply if you previously received an offer but didn’t accept it or register. Students planning to enrol under the Unisa-TVET agreement must apply as well. A non-refundable application fee of R160 is required.
For postgraduate studies, applications for master’s and doctoral qualifications open on 1 September 2026, while Short Learning Programmes open on 2 November 2026.

UNISA application dates for the 2065-2027 academic year vary by qualification and period of application. Below are the application dates for the UNISA 2026-2027 academic year;
- Apply for Unisa 2027 undergraduate qualifications between 17 August and 9 October 2026.
- Apply for a Unisa 2027 honours degree or postgraduate diploma between 17 August and 9 October 2026.
- Applications for the 2027 Unisa master’s and doctoral qualifications open on 1 September 2026.

Prospective students starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents. Below are the documents required for the application:
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted.)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
