Understanding The Unisa Registration Process:
The University of South Africa (Unisa) is an open-distance e-learning university that allows students to complete their courses utilising Unisa’s own online resources and study materials. Unisa offers a mix of career-oriented courses normally found in a university of technology, as well as general formative academic programs often found at a traditional university. Registration for selected master’s and doctoral qualifications is open until 30 June.
In this article, the registration dates for Higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, BTechs & degrees, including the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) are provided.

Unisa Registration Dates 2027
UNISA registration dates vary based on the semester of registration and registration qualification. Below are the registration dates at UNISA for the 2027-2028 academic year;
UNISA Master’s & doctoral qualifications Registration
- Registration for selected master’s and doctoral qualifications is open until 30 June.
UNISA Registration Date for Undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas
- Registration for the 2026 academic year for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas (including CTA) closes on 28 February 2027 for semester modules.
- The final date for initial minimum payments has also been extended to 28 February 2027. Registration for year modules will be open until 31 March 2027.
Undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas:
Registration for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas will be open as follows:
- Semester 2 registration for all undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas with semester modules: 29 June – 23 July 2027
Master’s & doctoral qualifications:
Registration for selected master’s and doctoral qualifications is open as follows:
- Master’s and doctoral qualifications: 7 January – 30 April 2027
- MCompt, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Business Leadership (MBL): 7 January – 21 February 2027
How To Register Online At UNISA 2027-2028
Follow the steps below to register online at UNISA for the 2027-2028 academic year;
- Log in to myUnisa
- Choose the myAdmin link
- Click on Student Admin and then
- Click on Register
Proceed to;
- Visit the Unisa web registration page, and click here to open the page.
- Choose the qualification level and then click “Go”.
- Enter your student number in the block provided and the other details as required. (If you don’t have a student number, you won’t be able to continue. You’ll need to apply online for admission.)
- Check your details on the screen. Change any contact details that are missing or incorrect. It is very important to provide your correct address and cellphone numbers. Incorrect information may delay the delivery of your study material and prevent you from receiving important information from the university.
- Click on the modules from the drop-down list for which you want to register. Ensure that you meet all the qualification requirements for your selected modules. You must
- meet all the prerequisites and co-requisites for the selected module
- enter the correct module code
- select the correct semester (1 = first semester; 2 = second semester)
- The language of tuition for each module is indicated in the module information.
- Do not exceed the prescribed number of modules per semester or year, as this may result in a delay in your registration being processed. Unisa retains the right to remove modules based on the number of credits allowed per semester and the fees paid. Please take note of the maximum period you have to complete your qualification.
- Calculate your fees
- Use the free quotation link on the Unisa website (http://www.unisa.ac.za/feequote) to obtain a quote for the cost of your modules.
- Note the minimum fee that must be paid before Unisa will process your registration. If these fees are more than you can afford, remove modules until you can afford the fees.
- You can make a payment online, using the web credit card payment method.
- If you don’t have a credit card, you can use one of the Unisa payment methods listed on this page. Retain your proof of payment in case of inquiries.
- Submit your registration.
