UNISA Student Number 2026-2027: A Step-by-Step Guide for New Students:
The Unisa student number is a unique identifier assigned to each student upon registration at the University of South Africa. This special number serves as the basic point of reference for a student’s academic career at Unisa, from application through graduation. Every student, whether enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program, is assigned a student number that they will carry with them for the rest of their time at the institution. All students need their student numbers before they can claim their Unisa logins or even track their application status. Also, you will need a student number to register. All students or candidates without formal student numbers can get one by applying for it.
The University of South Africa (UNISA) is a premier institution known for its extensive distance education programs, enrolling over 370,000 students and serving as one of the largest universities in Africa. Allowing prospective students to apply for undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate diplomas entirely online. UNISA’s student number system uniquely identifies each enrolled student, facilitating access to academic records, online resources, and administrative services.
Applicants aiming to join UNISA in 2026-2027 should prepare their documentation and select their programs carefully, as the university offers a wide range of disciplines, including arts, sciences, business, and law. The institution emphasises flexibility and accessibility, catering especially to students who require distance learning options due to geographic or personal constraints. The university also provides robust student support services such as online tutoring and academic counselling to enhance the learning experience for its diverse student body. UNISA’s degrees are internationally recognised, accredited by higher education authorities, and respected across academic and professional fields. The student number for the 2026-2027 cohort will be essential for registration, accessing the myUnisa portal, and managing academic progress throughout the study period. This system ensures streamlined communication and efficient administration for students and staff alike.
Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as qualifications will be removed from the application list once all available spaces for the 2025 academic year are filled. Final-year honours degree, postgraduate diploma, and master’s degree students are advised to make use of the opportunity to submit their applications before the closing date if they plan to further their studies in 2025.
