How to Apply at UNISA for the 2025-2026 Academic Year Online:

The online application for admission to the University of South Africa (UNISA) for the academic year 2025-2026 is now open to all prospective students. All applicants who wish to begin a new program should apply for admission. Applicants who are willing to apply for undergraduate courses, honor, and postgraduate courses are to begin the application process from the 21st of August 2024 through to the 11th of October 2024.

Applicants applying for a new qualification must submit the required documents (all first-time applicants and Unisa students starting a new qualification). The due date for uploading the required documents is the closing date for applications. No documents submitted after the closing date for applications will be accepted.

UNISA Online Application Dates 2025-2026

Please see the information below for all UNISA application dates and deadlines for the 2025-2026 academic year:

• Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
• Applications for admission to honors degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
• Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2024 (some exceptions apply).
• Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 14 May to 19 July.

Who Is Eligible To Apply Online For UNISA 2025-2026

The University of South, UNISA Application for admission to the 2025-2026 academic year is fully online. Everyone who wishes to study at UNISA for 2025 must apply for admission. The application for admission includes the following:

• All first-time and UNISA students applying for a new qualification
• All UNISA Students who are changing to a new program
• All UNISA students who want to specialize in a program
• Applicants who earlier on applied for admission but did not offer a space
• Applicants who were offered a space and accepted the offer but did not register
• Those who are completing a higher certificate program or any other program and wish to continue undergraduate studies
• All applicants are in their final year of Undergraduate qualification study and wish to continue with postgraduate studies.
• Students who are in their final year of a qualification who want to start a master’s or doctoral program

Documents Needed To Apply At UNISA Online 2025-2026

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents, which generally consist of the following:

• Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
• Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
• Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
• Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
• Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

Unisa urges all Unisa students who applied before 2016 to upload all the required documents. Failure to do so may result in a delay in processing your application.

Application Fee For UNISA Online 2025-2026

•  All prospective applicants applying for admission into the 2025 academic year Unisa are to pay an online application fee of R140.00.
• Pay the application fee once you have received a student number from Unisa.
• Use the student number you receive from Unisa AND the application fee allocation number as your reference number
