Registration for the Second Semester application is open for undergraduate higher certificates, diplomas and degrees & postgraduate diplomas, and honours degrees with semester modules. The University of South Africa has decided to open applications only for chosen undergraduate qualifications for the second semester of 2025.
For a lot of prospective students, attending UNISA is a dream come true, and early application submission is very important to get accepted into the programmes of their choice. People who were not able to apply for the first semester can now do so, as the second-semester application for admissions has begun.

Unisa Application Opening Date for 2025 Second Semester
Below is the application date for the Unisa 2025-2026 academic year;
- UNISA Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees) Application date is 19 August to 11 October.
- Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas: 19 August – 11 October
- Master’s & doctoral qualifications: 2 September – 22 November 2025

How To Apply At Unisa 2025
To apply for admission at Unisa for the 2025-2026 academic year, follow the steps below:
- Apply for a student number (only applicable if you do not already have a formal Unisa student number).
- Apply for admission.
- Upload the compulsory supporting documents.
NB: Documents are displayed in red on the upload platform. Students who gain qualifications outside the borders of South Africa must have their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and upload a SAQA certificate of evaluation during the application process (https://www.saqa.org.za). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Documents Required To Apply Online At UNISA 2025
The following documents are required to apply for admission at UNISA;
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
