My NSFAS Status At Unisa 2027-2028

How to Track My NSFAS Status at Unisa for 2027-2028:

Checking your My NSFAS Status at Unisa for 2027-2028 is one of the most important steps after submitting your NSFAS online application. If you plan to study at the University of South Africa and your household income is R350,000 or less per year, you could qualify for a government bursary from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. NSFAS covers tuition, registration, accommodation, transport, learning materials, and living allowances for eligible Unisa students, but funding is not automatic. You must apply, submit the correct documents, and monitor your application status closely.

NSFAS was established under the NSFAS Act 56 of 1999 and falls under the Department of Higher Education and Training. Its goal is to provide financial support to disadvantaged students at public universities and TVET colleges. For Unisa’s 2027-2028 academic year, all funding decisions are communicated through the myNSFAS portal. If NSFAS needs more information, you will get a notification on your profile. You then have 30 days to upload any missing documents, or your application could be delayed or rejected.

Understanding what each status means- Application Submitted, Documents Missing, Under Review, Approved, or Rejected helps you act fast and avoid losing your funding. This guide explains how to track your My NSFAS Status at Unisa for 2027-2028, what the bursary covers specifically for Unisa students, how to fix common issues, and what to do after you’re approved. With deadlines and compliance checks getting stricter, staying updated on your myNSFAS portal is the key to securing your funding on time.

What Is NSFAS and Who Qualifies at Unisa?
