NSFAS Online Application for the 2025/2026 academic session is open to all applicants from 21 November 2025 to 31 January 2026. Therefore, this guide will take you through the procedure for applying for NSFAS 2025/2026 academic year. You can visit NSFAS official website at www.nsfas.org.za and submit an online application for 2025/2026 academic year to finance your higher education level( university or TVET college ). Kindly take note that, late applications will not be considered.

NSFAS Needed Supporting Documents for 2025 Application
All applicants must have the following supporting documents before applying for NSFAS financial aid:
- A Copy of student ID / Birth certificate
- A Copy of parent/s or guardian/ spouse ID
- A Smart card: both sides of card required
- Proof of income (where applicable)
- Persons living with disability (Disability Annexure A form)
- An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker.
- An applicant who has indicated that s/he has no family member details and or abridged birth certificate must complete the Declaration: Non-SASSA
Remember: Based on the application type, the system will generate a list of required documents for upload. We do not accept any affidavits or driver’s license as proof of ID.

NSFAS Application Requirements 2025/2026
To apply for NSFAS, certain eligibility criteria must be met:
- A valid email address and cellphone number are essential for communication purposes.
- Applicants must either be either South African citizens or permanent residents.
- The total gross household income should not surpass R350,000 per annum.

- You need to have passed Grade 9 – 12 to study at a TVET college
- You need to have passed Grade 12 to study at a university
- You will be required to meet the academic admission requirements of the university or TVET college before NSFAS allocates any funding to you.
How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application Form 2025/2026
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Online application process is very easy, simple and accurate. Follow the steps below to submit your application online:
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za
- Click on myNSFAS tab
- Create myNSFAS account
- Login with your ID number
- Click on the “Apply” tab
- Fill out the online application form with your details
- Upload your needed supporting documents
- Complete and submit your application for review
If you lack access to digital devices or the internet, fret not. Simply visit the nearest National Youth Development Agency or Thusong Centre to complete your application, following the same steps outlined above.
After your NSFAS application is approved, you have a year to register at a TVET college or university. If you are unable to register for a full year, you need to apply again for the next application period, i.e. 2026-2027 academic year.
