Unisa NSFAS Application Form, Registration, Requirements
National Students Financial Association Scheme provides financial assistance to Unisa students especially needy students. NSFAS covers tuition, registration, accommodation as well as personal allowances. All interested Unisa students should apply for the NSFAS bursary. Only South African students are eligible to apply for NSFAS.
In order for your application to be processed attach all supporting documents. Please attach certified copies of the following documents:
- A certified proof of bank account. This can be a bank statement or letter from the bank where you have your account.
- Certified copy of your Identity Document/Birth Certificate. If you are younger than 16 years of age and do not have a green bar-coded ID, then you must submit a certified copy of your birth certificate.
- Certified copy of Identity Document of each household member including parents or legal guardian.
- Proof of residence
- Certified copy of your latest academic transcript or exam results. If you are currently in Grade 12 you are excluded from this requirement.
All the certified copies of income must not be older than three months and your documents can be certified at the South African Police Service or the South African Post Office.
During the Unisa registration period, you must register, provided that your NSFAS application has been accepted on a provisional basis. You do not need to pay the registration fee if your NSFAS application is provisionally approved. NSFAS will pay your registration fee and allowances to Unisa, provided you sign the NSFAS bursary agreement form. During the appealing period, students can appeal if NSFAS denies your application. Also, students will have to pay their registration fee whiles they still appeal.
PLEASE NOTE: You must write your identity number in the top right-hand corner of every page of your application as well as on every page of your required documents. NSFAS will not be able to process applications without an ID number on the pages.
