New Applicants:

  • Both new applicants and current Unisa students who have applied for admission to a new qualification can only register after receiving and accepting an offer of placement from Unisa.
  • Applicants should note that Unisa reserves the right to cancel or not process your registration if it is determined that you were incorrectly admitted to the qualification.

Re-registering Students:

  • Returning students can register for the 2024 academic year once the registration period begins.

Note: If you wish to pursue a new qualification, you must apply online for the alternative program during the designated application period.

How To Choose Unisa Nursing Courses 2025-2026

Each Unisa qualification is designed in such a way that within a certain period, you need to pass a certain number of modules and NQF-level credits to graduate. To be able to re-register and proceed with your certification, you have to pass a minimum number of credits/modules annually:
  • At least 36 NQF credits in your first year of study (3 modules of 12 credits each).
  • At least 48 NQF credits in your second or subsequent years of study (4 modules of 12 credits each).
You can not register for more than the maximum number of credits/modules permitted per semester:
  • At least 60 NQF credits in a semester (5 modules of 12 credits each).
  • For annual modules, at least 120 NQF credits (10 modules of 12 credits each per year.
When selecting your modules, you must take your available time into account, as this will affect your academic performance. Approximately you need
  • 6 to 8 hours a week for modules of the semester.
  • 4 to 6 hours a week for modules for the year.
