Short Course in Grade R Teaching at UNISA 2023-2024
Short Course in Grade R Teaching at UNISA 2023-2024
Unisa is aware of the issue expressed by students in the online petition about the Diploma in Grade R Teaching.
For the first time, the Diploma in Grade R Teaching was made available for application in 2023 and registration in 2024. There have been no changes to the entrance requirements.
The qualification’s goal is to elevate the status of practitioners already working in Grade R by allowing them to apply for and get credit for the Bachelor of Education Foundation Phase Teaching, which is the minimal prerequisite for Grade R instructors.

Unisa Online Application 2023-2024
Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of NQF level credits within a certain amount of time in order to graduate.
It is also very important that you manage your studies and are able to pass the number of NQF level credits for which you register each semester or year. Please also take note of Unisa’s admission and re-admission rules.
Each qualification page provides guidelines on how to do this successfully.
- Applicants (new applicants & Unisa students who applied for admission to a new qualification) may only register if they have received an offer of placement from Unisa and have accepted the offer online. Unisa reserves the right to not process and/or to cancel your registration if it is found that you were incorrectly admitted to a qualification.
- Re-registering students must register for the 2023 academic year during the relevant registration period.
