The Unisa College of Economic and Management Sciences plays a vital role in supplying skilled professionals to both the private and public sectors.

CEMS students represent 25% of all Bcom degrees granted by South African universities, nearly half of the honors degrees and 30% of master’s and doctoral degrees awarded in the last five years. Currently, around 145,5000 individuals are enrolled in diverse short-term learning programs, national qualifications, national diplomas, degrees and postgraduate studies up to the doctoral level. The College employs approximately 300 teaching and research staff members.

UNISA College of Economic and Management Sciences Schools /Departments 2025

The College of Economic and Management Sciences consist of the following schools: the School of Economic and Financial Sciences, the School of Management Sciences and the School of Public and Operations Management.

The School of Economic and Financial Sciences consist of the following three (3) departments

  • Department of Decision Sciences
  • Department of Economics
  • Department of Finance, Risk Management and Banking

School of Management Sciences: The School of Management Sciences also consist of the following four (4) departments

  • Department of Business Management
  • Department of Human Resource Management
  • Department of Industrial and Organisational Psychology
  • Department of Marketing and Retail

School of Public and Operations Management: Again, the School of Public and Operations Management has been classified into the following three (3) departments

  • Department of Applied Management
  • Department of Public Administration and Management
  • Department of Operations Management
