UNISA is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the 2026-2027 academic year. This includes admissions for Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, and degrees), Master’s and Doctoral degrees, as well as Honours degrees and Postgraduate diplomas. Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2026 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2026 (some exceptions apply).
Prospective students should ensure they meet the admission requirements before applying. Applications must be completed online through the official UNISA website. You can apply from the comfort of your home as long as you meet the entry criteria.

Date To Apply To Unisa 2026-2027
Below are the online application dates for the various qualifications offered at Unisa for 2026:
Unisa 2026 Application Date For Undergraduate Qualifications:
- Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2026 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2026.
Unisa 2026 Application Date For Honours Degrees & Postgraduate Diplomas:
- Applications for admission to honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2026 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2026.
Unisa 2026 Application Date For Master’s & Doctoral Qualifications:
- Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2026 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2026 (some exceptions apply).
Unisa 2026 Application Date For Short Learning Programmes:
- Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 14 May to 19 July.
UNISA Application Fee 2025-2026
- A non-refundable application fee of R140.00 is required of all applicants for the various qualifications. The application fee is required once you have received a student number from Unisa.
The application fee is due on the last day of the application period. Any application that is not accompanied by a timely payment of the application fee will be rejected. Please keep a copy of your payment evidence on file.
Documents Required To Apply At UNISA 2026-2027
Prospective students starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents. Below are the documents required for the application:
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans.
