Please see the information below for all UNISA application dates and deadlines for the 2026-2027 academic year:

• Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to open from 2 September 2025 to 18 November 2025
• Applications for admission to honors degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September 2025 to 18 November 2025
• Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 16 September 2025 to 11 November 2025 (some exceptions apply).
• Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 8 January to 15 February 2025 for 1st semester modules and 8 January to 15 March 2025 for 2nd semester and year modules.

Who Is Eligible To Apply Online For UNISA 2026-2027

The University of South Africa (UNISA Application for admission to the 2026-2027 academic year is fully online. Everyone who wishes to study at UNISA in 2025 must apply for admission. The application for admission includes the following:

• All first-time and UNISA students applying for a new qualification
• All UNISA Students who are changing to a new program
• All UNISA students who want to specialise in a program
• Applicants who had earlier applied for admission but were not offered a space
• Applicants who were offered a space and accepted the offer but did not register
• Those who are completing a higher certificate program or any other program and wish to continue undergraduate studies
• All applicants are in their final year of Undergraduate qualification study and wish to continue with postgraduate studies.
• Students who are in their final year of a qualification and want to start a master’s or doctoral program

Documents Needed To Apply to UNISA Online 2026-2027

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents, which generally consist of the following:

• Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
• Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
• Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
• Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
• Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

Unisa urges all Unisa students who applied before 2016 to upload all the required documents. Failure to do so may result in a delay in processing your application.

• All prospective applicants applying for admission into the 2025 academic year at Unisa are to pay an online application fee of R140.00.
• Pay the application fee once you have received a student number from Unisa.
