Essential Tips for Managing Your myLife UNISA Email Efficiently:
Unisa MyLife is the official student email and communication system for everyone studying at the University of South Africa. If you are a registered Unisa student, you automatically get a free Unisa MyLife email account for life. This is not just a normal email address. It is the ONLY email Unisa will use to talk to you. All important notices – like registration confirmation, assignments, exam dates, results, and study material updates- are sent straight to your MyLife inbox.
Your Unisa MyLife email address looks like this: yourstudentnumber@mylife.unisa.ac.za. For example, if your student number is 12345678, your email will be 12345678@mylife.unisa.ac.za. You log in with the same password you use for myUnisa. It is powered by Microsoft 365, so when you have a MyLife account, you also get free access to Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive. This makes studying easier because you can attend online classes, store files, and work on assignments.
To use it, go to http://mylife.unisa.ac.za and sign in. If you just registered, remember it can take up to 24 hours after you claim your account before it becomes active. You must claim it immediately after registering. For all students applying for the 2027-2028 academic year, remember: after you apply between 17 August and 9 October 2026 and register, your Unisa MyLife is your key to everything. Check it daily, because if you miss an email there, you miss important information from Unisa.
How To Access Unisa MyLife
To access your myLife e-mail account, please follow these steps:
- Go to http://mylife.unisa.ac.za/
- Enter your full e-mail address (eg xxxxxxxx@mylife.unisa.ac.za) and your password for your e-mail account.
- Select “Sign in”.

What To Do If Your Password Is Not Active On MyLife
It may be necessary to reset your myUnisa password to synchronise it with your myLife mailbox.
- Log in to myUnisa and click on “My Admin”.
- Click on the “Change Password” link.
- Complete the form to update your password. Please note that this new password will be active for both your myUnisa and myLife services.
NB: During peak periods, it may take approximately 30 minutes for the new password to activate on the myLife service. If you are still experiencing problems after resetting your password, please send an e-mail to MyLifeHelp@unisa.ac.za for assistance.
