Who Can Apply For Higher Certificate Courses At UNISA?

  • Anyone wanting to begin or commence a new Higher Certificate qualification can apply.
  • This includes all first-time applicants, students changing to a new Higher Certificate qualification, and students completing any programs and wishing to continue with further higher certificate studies.

When To Apply For Unisa Higher Certificate Courses

  • Applications for undergraduate courses for the 2025 academic year will be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.

Please note: All applications must be submitted online, and admission to a program is not guaranteed.

Requirements Needed To Study In Unisa High Certificate Courses

To qualify for a Higher Certificate course, you need one of the following:

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC): At least 30% in the language of teaching and learning.
  • Senior Certificate (SC): At least an F symbol on Higher Grade (HG) or an E symbol on Standard Grade (SG) in the language of teaching and learning.
  • National Certificate (Vocational): At least 40% in the language of teaching and learning, and the completed vocational subjects must be from the same field of study.

To apply for higher certificate courses at Unisa for the year 2025, kindly follow the steps given below:

  • Go to the Unisa website.
  • Click on ‘Proceed to ODEL & Unisa’.
  • Click on ‘Apply Now’.
  • Select Undergraduate Qualifications.
  • Answer the question: Do you have a student number?

If your student number starts with a 7, click YES.
If you have a different Unisa student number (not starting with a 7), click NO.

  • Fill in your details in the provided fields.
  • Choose the qualification you want to apply for.
  • Complete the remaining personal details.
  • Upload your required documents.
  • Submit your application.
