Anyone wanting to begin or commence a new Higher Certificate qualification can apply.
This includes all first-time applicants, students changing to a new Higher Certificate qualification, and students completing any programs and wishing to continue with further Higher Certificate studies.

When To Apply For Unisa Higher Certificate Courses

Applications for undergraduate courses for the 2026 academic year will be open from 21 August to 11 October 2026.

Requirements Needed To Study In Unisa High Certificate Courses

To qualify for a Higher Certificate course, you need one of the following:

National Senior Certificate (NSC): At least 30% in the language of teaching and learning.
Senior Certificate (SC): At least an F symbol on Higher Grade (HG) or an E symbol on Standard Grade (SG) in the language of teaching and learning.
National Certificate (Vocational): At least 40% in the language of teaching and learning, and the completed vocational subjects must be from the same field of study.
