The University of South Africa (Unisa) provides a variety of tests that assess its students’ understanding of topics and subjects. As a distance education school, Unisa uses a variety of testing methodologies to serve its huge student body dispersed across several places.

UNISA Exam Date 2025-2026

May / June semester examinations

The FINAL TIMETABLE for the May semester tests will be distributed to all candidates on APRIL 15, 2024. If you have not received your final timetable, please contact the Examination Administration Division immediately by sending an email with your student number to examinations@unisa.ac.za.

October / November examinations

The FINAL TIMETABLE for the October examination will be distributed to all applicants on September 12th. Exams in study units for the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, as well as the Postgraduate Diploma in Auditing, are also held in October/November.
If you have not received your final timetable, please contact the Examination Administration Division immediately by sending an email with your student number to examinations@unisa.ac.za.

January / February examinations (including supplementary, aegrotat and special examination)

Examinations for the Further Diploma in Education and the postgraduate diploma in Advanced Nursing Science, Distance Education, Telecommunications and Information Policy, Tertiary Education, and Translation are held in January/February in study units. They begin on the 24th of January and end on the 18th of February.

On 8 NOVEMBER the FINAL TIMETABLE will be sent to all candidates via MyLife e-mail.

Please contact Examination Arrangements as soon as possible if you have not received this timetable.Candidates get the timeframe for the extra, aegrotat, and special tests along with their exam results.

UNISA Examination Timetables 2025-2026

At the time of registration, all students will have a provisional examination timetable available to ensure that they are able to make an informed decision. On the Unisa website are the examination dates for all modules.

UNISA Pass mark And Distinction 2025-2026

For most modules, the pass mark is 50%. A qualification passed with distinction is when;

a students completes all modules
passes all final level modules at the first attempt
achieved an overall qualification average of 75%.

Remarking and Rechecking an Examination Answer Script

Only those students in a study unit who get 35% -49% or 68% -74% will apply for a review from such an examination script. All students may apply to have the university recheck their examination answer scripts. The fee charged for the rechecking process will be refund if as a result of the rechecking process the student obtains a higher score.

UNISA Examination Results 2025-2026

Only after the results are signed off by the executive deans of the respective colleges does the university publish the examination results. Final examination results will be;

posted to each student admitted to the examination
