How To Apply For Admission At UNISA 2025-2026

A Quick Guide to Applying for Admission at UNISA 2025-2026:

Admission to Unisa for the academic year 2025-2026 is primarily done online on the official website of the university. If you want to apply for admission to a new program at Unisa, go to www.unisa.ac.za for all online application processes. Before you begin the online application process, you must meet Unisa’s admission standards.

This is because you will be required to upload all of your supporting documents, including your school certificate, whether Senior or National Senior, your ID documents (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students), your marriage certificate (if applicable), or divorce decree (if applicable) and more.

The application portal for admission to the 2025-2026 academic year opens each year for new applications from prospective students. For master’s and doctoral qualifications, the portal opens in September and closes in November, with some exceptions. Applications for undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, and degrees) are open from August to October, along with applications for honors degrees and postgraduate diplomas.

When To Apply For Admission At UNISA 2025-2026

Applications for the academic year 2025 study season will be open by the following dates:

Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
Applications for admission to honors degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 21 August to 11 October 2024.
Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral degrees for the 2025 academic year are to be open from 2 September to 22 November 2024 (some exceptions apply).
Application and registration for Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes are open from 14 May to 19 July.

Documents Required To Apply Online At UNISA 2025-2026

All applicants are required to submit certified copies of the documents listed below during application:

A copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
A copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
A copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
A copy of Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
A copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)

Pay the application fee once you have received a student number from Unisa.
Use the student number you receive from Unisa AND the application fee allocation number as your reference number
