The Unisa College of Education aims to be the leading provider of high-quality Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs in Africa, aspiring to be recognized internationally as a center of excellence. It focuses on delivering exceptional teaching, research, and community engagement, with an emphasis on both the initial preparation of teachers and their ongoing professional development.

The UNISA College of Education provides a comprehensive range of courses and programs to meet the different needs and interests of prospective teachers. These courses span a wide range of educational subjects and specializations, ensuring that students obtain a well-rounded education that prepares them for successful careers in education.

College of Education is committed to serving all of mankind by providing service, learning, scholarships, and opportunities for continual professional development to aspirants and serving educators, managers policymakers, and other educators at home and abroad.

The College is currently responsible for the initial professional education and training of nearly 50% of all teachers in South Africa. It was established to address the needs of learners, schools, communities, and national and provincial education departments by providing well-qualified and exceptional teachers.
